Zhiyi Xia's academic interests lie in the fields of civil procedure, judicial system, and commercial arbitration. He received his B.A. from Shanghai International Studies University and LL.B. from East China University of Political Science and Law. He furthered his academic credentials with a J.M., a J.D., and a Ph.D. from Peking University. During his studies, he had the opportunity to study at EBS Law School, National Taiwan University, and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München as an exchange student or visiting scholar. Before pursuing the Ph.D., he gained three years of professional experience at a law firm in Shanghai, where he focused on foreign-related litigation and arbitration.
