Prof. Feldman Serves as President of the Guangzhou Court of International Arbitrition

The inaugural meeting of the Seventh Guangzhou Arbitration Commission(GZAC) was recently convened in Guangzhou. Mark Feldman, Interim Dean and Professor of Law at Peking University School of Transnational Law, has been appointed as President of the Guangzhou Court of International Arbitration, which serves as the executive arm of the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission. This marks the first time a domestic arbitral institution in Chinese mainland has appointed a foreign expert to serve as head of its executive body.

The Guangzhou Arbitration Commission(GZAC) is among the first group of world-class arbitration institutions with Chinese characteristics fostered by the Ministry of Justice. It maintains seven sub-offices and five specialized arbitration platforms, and has launched the world’s first cross-border online commercial dispute resolution platform for APEC economies. The new commission consists of 13 members covering six jurisdictions, with backgrounds representing civil law and common law jurisdictions, Belt and Road participating countries, BRICS countries, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Chinese mainland.
