Dear classmates, faculty, families, and friends,
Congratulations to us — graduating from the best university in China.
亲爱的同学们、老师们、家人们和朋友们：
祝贺我们——从中国最好的大学毕业。
I'm not here to lecture you. I'm no one to give advice. But on this day, I would like to share three short reflections: one about gratitude, one about mistakes, and one about comparison.
我不是来给大家说教的，也不是来提建议的。但在今天，我想分享三段短小的感想：关于感恩，关于错误，关于比较。
First, gratitude.
Not a single one of us here today has done it alone. We are each a patchwork quilt stitched together by those who passed through our lives.
第一，感恩。
今天在场的每一个人，都不是只靠自己走到这里的。我们都像一床拼布被，由那些走进我们生命的人一针一线缝制而成。
I love lasagna because my mother used to make it on special occasions. My favorite movie is Spirited Away, which I first watched with friends from the countryside of Venezuela. Bossa nova music reminds me of my grandmother and pumpkin pie to my best friend's mom. How fascinating it is that who we are today is the result of every person we ever encountered.
我爱吃千层面，因为妈妈总在特别的日子里做千层面。我最爱的电影是《千与千寻》，第一次看是和委内瑞拉乡村的朋友们一起。波萨诺瓦音乐让我想起外婆，南瓜派让我想起挚友的妈妈。我们今天的样子，竟是所有遇见之人的总和——这是多么奇妙的事。
And among those encounters, some played an especially big role: those who loved us, believed in our futures, showed us empathy and kindness. Those who told us the truth — even when it wasn't easy to hear — and those who encouraged us to pursue our dreams.
而在这些相遇之中，有一些人格外重要：那些爱我们、相信我们未来、给予我们同理与善意的人；那些对我们说出真相——即便并不动听——的人；那些鼓励我们去追逐梦想的人。
If those people are here today, find your way to thank them. To all the parents, mentors, teachers, and loved ones here: thank you.
And this is also a good time to remember how lucky we are. This degree is a privilege. And that privilege obligates us to use what we've learned to lend a hand to someone who doesn't get to be here. Someone who has never had a ceremony like this one. Gratitude is not just about looking back but about looking forward with a sense of responsibility.
如果这些人今天也在这里，请一定要谢谢他们。致在场的所有父母、导师、老师和亲友们：谢谢你们。
此刻我们也应当意识到自己是多么幸运。这个学位是一种特权。而特权意味着责任——用我们所学，去帮助那些没有机会坐在这里的人，那些从未拥有过这样一场典礼的人。感恩不只是回望过去，更是带着责任感向前看。
And that brings me to my second reflection: mistakes.
If you made it to Peking University, you're probably a perfectionist. I know the pressure of living through that lens.
But here's the truth: in life, we will inevitably misspeak, trust the wrong person, hurt people who didn't deserve it, self-sabotage, ruin perfectly good moments, deny wrongdoing, feel guilty, try to do better — and then repeat our mistakes.
这就引出了我的第二点感想：错误。
能考上北京大学的人，多半都有完美主义倾向。我知道活在这种视角下的压力。
但真相是：在生活中，我们难免会说错话、信错人、伤害不该伤害的人、自我消耗、毁掉本来很好的时刻、否认错误、感到愧疚、努力改正——然后重复犯错。
These mistakes will cost us. When you lose something, you often gain something too.
For so long, I stopped myself out of fear of failure. Fear of being judged. Fear of being called "cringe." Fear of being perceived as "too happy" for trivial things. But now I want to live fully — without limiting myself by what others think or by my own fears.
这些错误会让我们付出代价。但失去一些东西的同时，也往往得到另外一些。
很长时间里，我因为害怕失败而止步不前：害怕被评判，害怕被说“尴尬”，害怕被当作“为小事就快乐过头”。但现在，我想全然地活着——不再用别人的眼光或自己的恐惧来限制自己。
If we accept that failure is inevitable, we can release ourselves from so much pressure. Think about it: if each failure brings you closer to your goals, how fast would you want to fail?
如果我们接受失败不可避免，那就可以卸下许多压力。不妨想一想：如果每一次失败都让你离目标更近一步，你希望自己失败得多快？
That leads me to my third reflection: stop comparing yourself to others.
Because comparison is often where perfectionism hides. You look at someone else's path and think yours is broken.
这就引出了我的第三点感想：停止与他人比较。
因为比较，时常是完美主义藏身的地方。你看着别人的道路，就以为自己的路走错了。
You are on this planet to be you — not someone's imitation. Your life's journey is about trying to become more fully who you are: the truest expression of yourself as a human being.
You'll do that through your work, your art, and your personal relationships. But comparison is the thief of that journey. When you compare, you shrink your own story to fit someone else's highlight reel. You start chasing goals that were never yours. You measure your insides by their outsides.
你来到这个星球上，是为了成为你自己——而不是别人的复制品。你的人生旅程，就是在努力成为更完整的自己：作为一个人最本真的表达。
你会通过你的工作、你的艺术、你的亲密关系来完成这件事。但比较是这段旅程的窃贼。当你比较时，你把自己的人生故事缩水，去塞进别人的高光集锦。你开始追逐从来不属于你的目标。你用自己的内心去丈量别人的外在。
So, stop. Life is not a competition against the person next to you. It's a battle against your past self. Your path is winding, messy, sometimes slower, sometimes faster. That's not a flaw. That's the point.
所以，停下来吧。生活不是与你身边之人的竞赛，而是与过去自己的较量。你的道路是曲折的、凌乱的，时缓时急。那不是缺陷，那正是意义所在。
So, stop. Life is not a competition against the person next to you. It's a battle against your past self. Your path is winding, messy, sometimes slower, sometimes faster. That's not a flaw. That's the point.
所以，停下来吧。生活不是与你身边之人的竞赛，而是与过去自己的较量。你的道路是曲折的、凌乱的，时缓时急。那不是缺陷，那正是意义所在。
So today, as we step out of these gates and into the rest of our lives, I wish us all curiosity, confidence, guts, purpose, and passion.

所以今天，当我们跨出校门、走向余生，我祝愿我们每一个人都拥有好奇心、自信、胆识、目标和热情。
