Professor Mark Feldman Speaks to Phoenix News on International Arbitration and the Greater Bay Area

Professor Mark Feldman, Interim Dean of Peking University School of Transnational Law (STL), speaks with Phoenix News about his experience in China’s international arbitration practice and the development of international arbitration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In January 2026, Professor Feldman was appointed President of the Guangzhou Court of International Arbitration (the executive arm of the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission). With a career spanning Washington, D.C. and the Greater Bay Area, Professor Feldman has witnessed firsthand the growing internationalization and professionalization of China’s arbitration institutions over the past decade.

In the interview, Professor Feldman discusses the development of arbitration in the Greater Bay Area and highlights the importance of regional collaboration. Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong each bring distinctive strengths to legal services, international arbitration, and dispute resolution. By leveraging their respective advantages and working in greater coordination, the three cities can complement one another and further strengthen the region’s overall capacity for international dispute resolution.
