As part of their orientation program, students in the 2026 LLM class at Peking University School of Transnational Law (STL) recently visited the headquarters of Shenzhen Fadada Network Technology Co., Ltd. The program combined a seminar on cross-border legal practice with an introduction to legal technology, giving students an opportunity to connect their studies with developments in China’s legal and business environment.
The students attended a seminar hosted by HiLegal and co-organized by STL, featuring Dr. Alexander Honrath, Managing Partner of Eversheds Sutherland’s German office; Liu Ling, Director of the firm’s China Practice; and Kitty Chan, Partner at Appleby’s Hong Kong office. The speakers discussed issues including corporate structuring, compliance, and tax risks in cross-border business, drawing on practical experience and case studies from different jurisdictions.
Following the seminar, the students toured Fadada’s headquarters and learned about its work in electronic signatures, digital contracting, contract review, and contract lifecycle management. The visit offered students a firsthand look at how technology is being applied to legal and commercial services in China.
The program provided STL’s international LLM students with practical perspectives on cross-border legal practice and the evolving relationship between law and technology, complementing their classroom learning.
