Jennifer Thornton, Vice President of Business Roundtable, visited PKU STL

Jennifer Thornton, Vice President of Business Roundtable, spoke on U.S. trade policy at Peking University School of Transnational Law (STL) on March 21st. The event was moderated by Professor Mark Feldman, Interim Dean of STL.

Ms. Thornton, speaking in a personal capacity, reviewed the origins and development of the multilateral trading system, US trade policy towards China since the 1990s, and recent shifts in US trade policy towards China.

Ms. Thornton is currently a Lecturer in Law at Columbia Law School and has previously served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas and George Mason University Law Schools, where she has taught courses in international trade and investment law. Ms. Thornton previously served as Trade Counsel to the Republican Members of the Committee on Ways and Means in the United States House of Representatives and spent ten years in the Department of State and in the Office of the United States Trade Representative litigating international investment disputes and negotiating international investment agreements.
