STL Hosts 2020 Summer Honors Program for Top University Students

From August 7-11, 2020, Peking University School of Transnational Law (STL) hosted its Summer Honors Program (SHP) Online. SHP hosts top students from China’s most respected universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, Fudan University, Sun Yat-Sen University.

The camp started with a welcome speech from Dean Philip McConnaughay. In keeping with our traditions, STL has prepared an introductory course on its J.D. & J.M programs. Through it, students experienced the charm of the Socratic teaching method and the bilingual teaching environment. A virtual campus tour was also added to familiarize students with the school’s setting.

In addition, STL also invited alumni and students from different undergraduate backgrounds to hold sessions for the SHP students. During those sessions, alumni and students shared their unique views on study, life, work and family, actively answering questions raised by SHP students.

On August 11, the SHP held a virtual closing ceremony where Dean Philip McConnaughay acknowledged the students’ performance at the Camp. Assistant Dean Keru Chen also thanked all SHP students and expressed that she looked forward to seeing them back in the future. Finally, some student representatives shared what they have learnt during the SHP with others.
