Roundtable on International Migration and Persons of Undetermined Nationality

The Beijing office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and STL are jointly hosting a Roundtable on, “International Migration and Persons of Undetermined Nationality,” to be held December 19 at the Sheraton Hotel in the Futian District of Shenzhen. The Roundtable will bring together representatives from UNHCR and students and faculty from STL and PKU Law to discuss topics such as the UNHCR Mandate on Stateless Persons, nationality-related and migration research issues and China exit and entry administration, and the role of clinical legal education and pro bono legal service in addressing migration law and immigration law issues.

​T​he Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It strives to ensure that everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, with the option to return home voluntarily, integrate locally or to resettle in a third country. It also has a mandate to help stateless people.
