Frank Wu

President, Queen’s College, City University of New York

Frank Wu is President of Queen’s College, City University of New York. He previously served as a Distinguished Professor at University of California Hastings College of the Law and Chancellor and Dean at the school. In 2013, he was voted the most “influential” dean in legal education in a poll by National Jurist magazine. Before joining UC Hastings, Professor Wu was a member of the faculty at Howard University, the nation’s leading historically black college/university (HBCU), for a decade. He served as Dean of Wayne State University Law School in his hometown of Detroit, and he has been a visiting professor at University of Michigan; an adjunct professor at Columbia University; and a Thomas C. Grey Teaching Fellow at Stanford University. He also taught at STL in its inaugural year. In his leadership roles at UC Hastings and Wayne, as well as on the faculty at Howard, he was the first Asian American to serve in such a capacity.

Professor Wu is dedicated to civic engagement and volunteer service. In April 2016, he was elected by the members of Committee of 100 as their Chair. The Committee of 100 is an invitation-only non-profit group of extraordinary Chinese Americans founded by Yo-Yo Ma, I.M. Pei and others, with the twin missions of promoting positive U.S.-China relations and the civic participation of Chinese Americans.
