Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC, Visits Peking University School of Transnational Law


Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited Peking University School of Transnational Law (STL) on January 13, 2025, to learn about its initiatives in cultivating foreign-related legal professionals. 



Leung was welcomed by Zhang Jin, Vice President of Peking University and Chancellor of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (PKU Shenzhen), who introduced the development of PKU Shenzhen. Zhang highlighted the school’s commitment to innovation and its focus on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. He emphasized the school’s goal of fostering international education platforms, such as the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Innovation Center, to promote mutually beneficial development between Shenzhen and Hong Kong.




STL Interim Dean Mark Feldman outlined STL’s role in training cross-border lawyers and its ongoing efforts to enhance legal education and research in the Greater Bay Area. He emphasized STL’s leadership in cultivating foreign-related legal talent and advancing transnational legal research, contributing to both regional and national legal systems.

Leung commended STL’s achievements and reiterated Hong Kong’s role in advancing China’s high-quality development. He advocated for deeper collaboration between STL and Hong Kong in fostering foreign-related legal talent to support China’s modernization.

The roundtable discussions focused on legal education, cross-border cooperation, and the training of legal professionals. Representatives from PKU Shenzhen’s senior administration, STL administration, faculty, students, and alumni also participated in the discussions.
