STL Professor Stephen Minas has contributed to two new books on climate finance and investment, both published by Edward Elgar in the last few weeks.

The "Research Handbook on Climate Finance and Investment Law" is edited by Professor Michael Mehling (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Professor Harro van Asselt (University of Cambridge and University of Eastern Finland).
The book explores the field of climate finance and investment through sections on international climate finance institutions and channels, international trade and investment law, climate risk and the law, and leveraging climate finance and investment. Dr Minas’ chapter provides a legal and practical analysis of the Green Climate Fund as the largest dedicated climate fund.
Writing in praise of the book, Professor Christina Voigt (University of Oslo) notes that the book "provides both map and compass to navigate this legal field and to explore new horizons – and solutions."

"A Research Agenda for Law, Finance and the Environment" is edited by Professor Megan Bowman (King’s College London) and Dr Laura Mai (University of Amsterdam). The book provides an interdisciplinary analysis of law, finance and the environment at global, regional and sectoral levels.
In his chapter, Dr Minas focuses on multilateral finance for technology development and transfer under international agreements on climate change, international transport (aviation and shipping) and the high seas, drawing lessons learned from these case studies.
In his praise for the book, Professor Michael B. Gerrard (Columbia University) writes that it "provides scholars with insights into research approaches that could help them point to possible improvements, large and small, and offers practitioners a wealth of information to help them work with the existing reality."
Welcoming the publication of the books, Dr Minas stated: "Financing to meet the great environmental challenges of our time remains a critical necessity - and opportunity. These books are resources for collective action to meet urgent objectives. They demonstrate the dedication and creativity of a community of thinkers and doers that will not be deterred by those who seem content to let the planet burn."
