Prof. Stephen Minas Delivers Keynote at UN Innovation Workshop

STL Professor Stephen Minas delivered a keynote speech at the “16th Systemic Innovation Workshop”, held in Shenzhen on October 16. The workshop was organised by the United Nations Climate Change Global Innovation Hub with the support of Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation and DeepRock. 

The workshop had the theme of “South-South Cooperation: Empowering Zero-Carbon City Transformation”. It was hosted at Biosphere 3 in Dameisha.

Opening remarks were given by Mr Shi Wang, Founder, Vanke Group and DeepRock Group, and Dr Zhu Dijian, Secretary of Committee, Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology. Keynote speakers included Professor Guan Dabo, Vice President, Carbon Neutral Institute, Tsinghua University; Dr Marcelo de Andrade, Founder of Pro-Natura International; Ms Arvea Marieni, Director Eco-Transition Engineering Solutions, BEAM CUBE; and Ms Jiang Hanke, COO, DeepRock.

In his speech, Dr Minas discussed lessons learned for zero-carbon city transformation from recent publications of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism and from the practical work of the UN Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN). Later, Dr Minas participated in a panel discussion on "Cities at the Crossroads: The Challenge of Zero-Carbon Transformation".
